Understanding the colonoscopy procedure
A colonoscopy uses a thin, flexible tube to look inside the large intestine and rectum. The tube has a tiny light and camera at one end which allows your doctor to detect and problems without needing to conduct major surgery.
The procedure is conducted under sedation and you will not remember having it.
The day before your procedure you will need to have a change in diet 2 days before avoid eating solid foods and consume only clear liquids like broth, or tea and coffee without milk. Your surgeon will provide you with a list of instructions. The evening before your colonoscopy, you will also need to drink a liquid that triggers bowel-clearing diarrhea. You will need to stay close to a bathroom during this time.
