Dr Kiron Bhatia is a highly experienced General, Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon. Since 2010, he has worked as a senior consultant with the UGI Surgical Unit at Austin Hospital, where he remains committed to delivering compassionate care to every patient.
Dr Bhatia completed his surgical training right here in Melbourne at St Vincent’s Hospital. He then continued his training with subspecialty UGI fellowships at the Austin Hospital and Monash Medical Centre.
Since completing his formal training, Dr Bhatia has continued to build on his surgical skills.

He later completed further training in robotic surgery at Memorial Hermann Medical Centre, Houston, Texas. As one of Melbourne’s leading robotic UGI surgeons, Dr Bhatia has performed a wide range of procedures, including:

- Heller’s myotomy for achalasia
- Giant hiatus hernia repair
- Complex abdominal wall hernia repair
Dr Bhatia is especially passionate about bariatric surgery, reflux, and other common oesophageal conditions. He also performs a broad range of general surgeries, with care that’s tailored to each patient.
